ADD and who is Jesus

So, it's been a while since my last post. Sorry, I think I have ADD or something. Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about life and stuff, trying to figure out who this "Jesus" guy is, how who he is affects me or should affect me and who I should be because of this. A few weeks ago, a coworker of mine, who is studying part time to become a pastor, asked me this question, "Who is Jesus." He told me he was doing some research and wanted me to write some stuff down for him. So when I got home I cracked open my bible and figured it would be easy, just write some stuff down. But it's been harder than I thought, trying to understand culture differences and such. How do I become like Jesus in the 21st century? Jesus reached out to all in need. Who are the people in need now and how can I reach out to them. I've read through a few books about Jesus and am searching through the gospels, but it's a long process ( I think this might be where my ADD kicks in, I've started reading who knows how many books, but I have yet to finish some of them.) and it's not easy. The world I live is not the same as the world Jesus was raised in. The culture is different, but the fact that there are people with need is still the same. But how do I show these people Jesus, the real deal, how do I love them so that they will understand. I guess that's God's job, to make them understand, not mine. But I am a control freak and like to be in control.
This evening I was at a concert, at Java Junction, put on by a group from Denver with YWAM. You could really see Christ's love through them, through their songs, through their unity and just who they were. I got into a conversation with one of them and we started talking about ministry and what defines something as ministry. One passage of scripture that came to mind was this one. "So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking around life - and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well- adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead fix your attention on God and you'll be changed for the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you always dragging you down to it's level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
-Romans 12:1-4 the message.
I think that's who Jesus wants us to be- to be available to be used by him. So often we as humans want a four step formula or a quick fix. This isn't going to be easy, but living a life like this guarantees joy and satisfaction in the end.
That's my thoughts for now, I hope they weren't to ADDish!
