Thoughts on the parable of the talents

A couple days ago something happened at work, don't remember what but that's not important. Whatever happened, for some reason it got me thinking about the passage of scripture where Jesus tells the parable about the talents. He tells how a man going on a trip gives three of his servants different talents or amounts of money. They are responsible for this money while he is away. The first two put their talents to use and double them for the man. The last one was afraid and did nothing with what he was responsible for. We are all like the three men, we have been given talents or responsiblities while the master is away. We have the choice whether we want to do anything with these responsibilities or not. Sometimes I think I can hide behind the excuse that I don't know what my talents or responiblities. But I ask myself, "What am I as a Christian responsible for?" I think the answer to this question can be summed up with two staements, love God and love his people. Sometimes I think we confuse ourselves by trying to get to specific about how we should be doing thing and what others will think, but when we apply these to teachings to our lives we can't go wrong. When we love God's people we re loving God. When we love God we will want to show love to his people as well. I think that is our responsiblity as Christians, what it looks like on a personal level..... well that's between you and God.
